Grid Talks: Who Controls the Future? Autonomous Weapons, Mobile Scientists & Global Governance

10:00 – 11:00 AM ET

Virtual

Join us for a 1‑hour virtual gathering where we explore how emerging technologies and global research flows are reshaping international cooperation. This session features two flash talks from authors whose recent pieces examine the governance challenges posed by autonomous weapon systems and the diplomatic power of scientific mobility.

You’ll hear one flash talk unpacking the accelerating reality of AI‑enabled warfare and the urgent question of whether international law can keep pace with autonomous decision‑making in conflict – drawing on global regulatory paradigms, humanitarian principles, and the geopolitical pressures shaping negotiations.

The second flash talk explores how early‑career researchers carry tacit knowledge, laboratory culture, and scientific norms across borders, making mobility not just a career step but a quiet engine of science diplomacy. Stay for an open Q&A to connect with new and established voices working at the intersection of technology, governance, and global scientific collaboration.
